Due by Day 7. Journal Four: What is a Primary Resource? The internet offers a wealth of information. Schmidt, Shelbourne, and Vess (2007) state, “[Internet] literature contains important manifestations of present day social and political history, art and literature, and primary cultural output. In every way, this literature is contemporary primary source material upon which research in the future will rely” (p. 184). The authors are suggesting that blogs, social media posts, etc. are primary sources. For example, we use personal letters and diaries from the Civil War as primary sources for historical interpretation and analysis. What do you think about this? Would you consider internet literature to be a primary source? Is internet literature a valuable source of information? Should it be taken more seriously?
